When you live this far north, good Mexican food can be hard to find. Hernande'z (735 Yates) seems to take this premise to heart. Tucked away in a back alley of a somewhat hidden urban mall and with no outside signs, advertising, or even a phone or website, it's easy to walk past this little Mexican taqueria without ever knowing it's there. However, once you try Hernandez authentic comida, you'll never forget how to locate it again.
The best deal, and my favorite items on the menu, are the 5 tacos for $5 bucks. The chicken or pork tacos are served on homemade tortillas and come with plenty of cilantro, salsa, and slices of lime. The salsa could be spicier but otherwise Hernandez is the place to go for authentic Mexican food in Victoria. To make a good meal even better, be sure to order a Negra Modelo to wash everything down.
