The Pattern House & Morning Light Coffee Roasters
The Pattern House (1229 East Lyndale / 406-442-9633) is a cafe which roasts it's own coffee and is located in an old, two-story stone building that used to make industrial patterns – castings for the local iron foundries. The building has been nicely restored and some of the old patterns, huge wheel and gears, still decorate the walls. The upstairs room is huge, usually empty and is the perfect place to go to consume caffeine with a large group of people. The Pattern House is also home to one of the best coffee-themed happy hours around: from 2:30 to 3:30pm all espresso drinks are half off.
If you’re down on the Gulch, be sure to check out the Pattern House’s sister café – Morning Light Coffee Roasters (503 Fuller Ave. / 406-442-5180). Located in a less historic but still cozy venue, Morning Light has the same great coffee and happy hour.
